Best Lancome Perfumes
8. Lancome La Vie Est Belle Parfum Spray
La Vie Est Belle is a perfume that’s designed to keep people focused on the simpler things in life. This is a fragrance that was released in 2012 and has been placed in a flacon that’s based on a Lancome bottle design that hailed from the late 1940s. This is a scent that’s been described as a sweet and woodsy fragrance that will sweep the wearer’s cares away. At the top of this perfume, the wearer will experience notes of pear and black current, and at its base, the wearer will rejoice in notes of praline, Tonka bean, vanilla, and patchouli. In the middle are notes of orange blossom, iris, and jasmine. Although some people complain its sillage is a bit heavy-handed, we think it’s just right and it’s a great scent for just about anyone.
7. Tresor By Lancome Parfum Spray
Even though some people are torn between whether they should describe this perfume as having a moderate or heavy sillage—in our opinion, this fragrance has a moderate sillage that lasts a long time. Its name means “treasure” in French, and we’ve found this name to be a perfect representation of what the consumer can expect out of it. It’s a fruity/floral fragrance that is probably one of the best selling perfumes in the world. This fragrance has top notes of pineapple, peach, lilac, and apricot blossoms; heart notes of rose, heliotrope, jasmine, and iris; and base notes that include apricot, amber, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. We believe that it’s a fragrance that can be worn in winter, spring, summer, or fall, and any time of the day or night.
6. Lancome Idole Le Parfum EDP Spray
Even though Idole is a fragrance that hasn’t been around as some of the more established Lancome fragrances, it has managed to cement itself as one of the best Lancome perfumes currently available. This fragrance was the brainchild of perfumers Adriana Medina, Shyamala Maisondieu, and Nadege Le Garlantezec—who invented the product and released it in 2019. It’s a rose-embued, fruity/floral fragrance that has white flower undertones that make it a fresh and clean scent. At its top, this perfume has notes of bergamot and pear; at its heart, it has notes of jasmine and Turkish rose; and at its base, it has notes of vanilla and musk. In our opinion, it’s a fragrance that can be worn all year round and is suitable for wearing both at day and during the night.
5. Lancome Miracle Eau de Parfume
Lancome Miracle was launched in 2000 and with Uma Thurman being the public face of this fragrance, it seemed almost destined to become a popular fragrance. It’s a perfume that’s crisp and floral and is the perfect fragrance for daytime wear during the spring and summer months. At the top of this perfume, the wearer will notice notes of litchi and freesia; middle notes of jasmine, pepper, orange, ginger, and magnolia. At the bottom of this fragrance, consumers will notice base notes that include jasmine, musk, and amber. This is a perfume that has a moderate sillage and longevity that’s an extremely unique scent. It’s no wonder so many people have named this perfume as their signature scent and continue to wear it over 2-decades after its initial release.
4. Poeme By Lancome For Women
Even though some people consider Lancome Poeme to be a 90s scent–which it is, having been initially released in 1995–we feel that this is still a fragrance that modern women are going to love. It might be a perfume that’s been around for the past 25+ years, but it’s one that marches to the beat of its own drum and can’t be accurately characterized as a classic perfume. This fragrance has top notes that include orange, bergamot, black currant, narcissus, and peach; heart notes that include mimosa, rose, jasmine, freesia, ylang-ylang, and vanilla. At the base of this fragrance, consumers will find notes of Tonka bean, orange blossom, musk, and amber. It’s a fragrance that has to be worn to be truly appreciated and a fragrance that we know many people are going to enjoy.
3. Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose Parfum Spray
Tresor Midnight Rose is a fragrance that was initially released to the public in 2011 and is known by its iconic purple bottle. It’s a fragrance that’s has fruit notes at its forefront and these notes are backed up by subtle yet distinctive spicy and sweet notes. At the top of this fragrance, the wearer will notice notes of roses and raspberries; at its middle, the wearer will notice notes of peony, pink pepper, cassis, and jasmine. As the perfume sinks into its base, the wearer will notice notes of vanilla, cedar, and musk. It has a slightly heavy sillage that’s perfect for a night out on the town and is formulated so that it won’t let up before midnight.
2. Hyponose By Lancome For Women
The first thing the consumer will notice about this perfume is its very unusual look flacon—a bottle that was inspired by the shape of a woman’s silhouette. What’s remarkable about this fragrance, however, isn’t the shape of its bottle, but what can be found within that bottle. And what can be found in it is a perfume that is long-lasting yet has a moderate sillage, and is full of fruity and white floral notes. At the top of this fragrance, the wearer will notice subtle notes of passionflower, and at its heart, they will notice shades of gardenia and jasmine. Eventually, this fragrance settles into notes of vanilla and vetiver. In our opinion, it’s a great nighttime fragrance that’s best suited for the fall months, but can be worn all year round.
1. Lancome Magie Noire Eau De Toilette Spray
Magie Noire is a Lancome perfume that’s been around for quite some time—since 1978 to be exact. That means to modern noses its sillage might be a little bit too heavy, as perfumes during the 1970s tended to project more than modern perfumes. Having said that, we still believe that this perfume is one that can still be thoroughly enjoyed as a nighttime or winter seasonal fragrance. At the top of this perfume, the wearer will notice a pronounced hit of hyacinth, raspberry, bergamot, and Bulgarian rose; and at the heart of this perfume, the wearer will find notes of orris root, honey, cedar, tuberose, and jasmine. And finally, at this perfume’s base, the wearer can expect musk, myrrh, patchouli, sandalwood, and civet.
A Guide To Lancome Perfumes
Since Lancome has been around for so long, many people feel that they have an intimate knowledge of this brand, but we’ve found in our research that this isn’t always the case. When we began to research this company’s formidable collection of fragrances, we found that some of them have escaped the purview of the average consumer. That’s why we’ve decided to write this guide. We wanted to share with everyone not only the Lancome story but also some of the wonderful fragrances that can be found in their collection.
A Brief History Of Lancome Fragrances
Let’s begin this guide by a brief discussion of how Lancome came into existence. This fragrance-house was founded by Armand Petitjean in 1935. He wanted to create a brand that was the essence of French elegance, so he began by naming the company after a French castle known as Le Chateau de Lancosme, and designed the company’s moniker of a single golden rose from the rose gardens that surrounded this castle.
Immediately after its founding, the company released five fragrances that include the Tropiques, Tendre Nuit, Conquete, Bocages, and Kypre scents. He debuted these scents at the Brussels International Exposition. After that debut, the company would also release their first skin repair cream and skincare line.
In 1964, Lancome became a part of the L’Oreal family and this is when they released some of their most beloved fragrances: Tresor, Climat, and Magie Noire. Now this company has over 146 perfumes in its fragrance base. Perfumes created by some of the best perfumers in the industry including names such as Olivier Cresp, Jacques Cavallier, Robert Gonnon, Alienor Massenet, Christian Biecher, Julien Rasquinet, Sophia Grojsman, Francis Kurkdjian, and Sophie Labbe.
