It is rather unusual to talk about top fragrances and perfumes which are available in the market and not have the name of Versace appear on that list. Versace has always launched some of the finest perfumes of all times. Although it was launched in 1996, Versace the dreamer still manages to be one of the most entrancing fragrances that is available in the market. If you are looking for a fragrance that is oriental, sharp, and woody in nature, then Versace the dreamer is certainly not going to disappoint you. Let’s take a closer look at what this fragrance has to offer.
Our Versace The Dreamer Review
Versace’s men’s cologne “The Dreamer” was released in 1996 and reflects the image the company was going for at the time. The bottle has a Roman or Greek influence in its shape and features a Medusa head in the middle. The box comes in two variations, with one featuring a galaxy and the other a more minimalist starscape.
The Dreamer includes the top notes of juniper and lily, middle notes of iris, and base notes of tobacco, amber, and tarragon. The initial impression of The Dreamer is horrible and hits you with a mix of toxic paint thinner or hairspray notes. This opening stench lasts for 15-30 minutes at which point the dry down begins.
During the drydown you get a very fresh powdery smell with a hint of tarragon. This is a very clean smell and is almost as if you’re not wearing cologne at all. It is simply a nice and refreshing powdery smell. This stays pretty much the same throughout the drydown and is very favorable once the initial toxic waste spill dissipates.
The Dreamer can really be worn during any season and is perfect as a signature scent. It however can be too powdery if you live in an area where the summers get hot. Due to this fact, I mostly recommend this one for Spring and Fall wear. Although it can be worn as a signature scent I believe this one shines in an intimate setting on a date or other small occasion. This isn’t the scent to go to to bring attention to yourself. You won’t be using The Dreamer to go to clubs or bars and meet women. However, after you’ve met with them a few times and become comfortable this is a very pleasant choice. This works well for anyone 18+ and could be used from Prom to a night on the town to a wine bar. This isn’t sweet or immature and older males will have no problem wearing this and appearing as if they’re trying too hard.
Spraying The Dreamer is important to its success. When applying it make sure you hold the bottle a little further away then normal. Let the spray cloud spread out over the surface you are applying to. This reduces the toxic smell in the beginning and just leads to a better experience overall. Personally, I use three sprays, one to the neck, and one to each wrist. I wouldn’t really recommend more than three as it can get cloying if over applied. This is especially the case if you apply by holding the bottle closer to the skin. Longevity with The Dreamer is great with it ranging from nine hours plus. It is similar to L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme in that it seems to go on and on without being overpowering. Personally, The Dreamer is a must buy for anyone that is beginning to collect fragrances or just looking for an overall good fragrance. It can be used during any occasion but does best in the intimate settings. This one is a classic, and there is a reason that it has been around since 1996.
